According to blogs written about the Tokeland and visitor experiences, there appears to be more than meets the eye at this little hotel in Tokeland Washington. Admittedly we hadn’t done any previous research pre-investigation until we showed up on an nice August night for a meal, s’mores and a ghost investigation. Pulling in to this hotel it was noticeable that not much had changed from it’s 1800’s original form. There were two staircases on either side of the property connecting the second floor overnight rooms to the main floor which held the restaurant, and “lounge” area with a fireplace, birds and obscure decor that the owners have collected over the years. An interesting note is that there is a third floor which is connected and can be accessed through both sets of staircases, but the third floor remains locked and is used for storage only being accessed occasionally. The third floor however, is an area that numerous experiences and occurrences have been reported. Noises, lights flickering, doors closing behind the owner! Link here

Many have commented on two “ghosts” in particular, a cat which can be heard sometimes faintly in rooms, and “Charlie” whom was the only immigrant know to have died on the property. The story about Charlie is that during a raid, he hid in an enclosed space behind the fireplace. He remained there and died from lack of oxygen. Neither ghost energies are thought to be or have been experienced as “negative”, but the findings of our ghost investigation lead us to question what we thought we knew about this beautiful hotel set on the Washington coast.
