What makes a relic

Origin

1175-1275; middle english

In world religions, relics usually consist of the physical remains of a saint, or holy person. A reliquary is a shrine that houses one or more religious relics. Articles of clothing of a saint or holy person are among popular types of relics.

The name “Well of Souls” derives from a medieval Islamic legend that at this place the spirits of the dead can be heard awaiting Judgment Day.[3] The name has also been applied to a depression in the floor of this cave and a hypothetical chamber that may exist beneath it.

Religious Relic Story of the Foundation Stone

Before Columbus and the illustrious class of 1500, many maps of the world showed Jerusalem as the center of the world. Jerusalem is considered a holy place, treasured, and long fought after among the three great monotheistic religions. It has been destroyed and rebuilt 14 times. The city's religious focal point is Temple Mount. The temple is thought by many to be both the starting point or foundation stone of creation, and the closest place on earth to God in heaven. The golden Dome of the Rock, one of the most sacred sights in Islam, marks its summit. For Muslims, this rock, which marks the Altar of Isaac, is the third most holy place in Islam.
